Regulatory Updates Across Markets
In Australia, Prime Minister Albanese and opposition leaders reached an agreement to strengthen federal gambling legislation. The proposed framework limits player sign-up bonuses and restricts advertising directed at minors. The Netherlands is simultaneously processing license renewals as the initial five-year permits issued during the 2021 market launch reach their October expiration. Operators Holland Casino, Bingoal and TOTO have completed their renewals, while remaining applicants await approval.Judicial and regulatory actions in Latin America and South Asia further reshape market access. On 7 August, the Santiago Court of Appeals in Chile established DNS filtering as a permanent tool to restrict unauthorized gambling websites, extending the measure to newly registered domains and mirror sites. In Sri Lanka, the newly formed Gambling Regulatory Authority directed internet service providers to block 122 unlicensed platforms.
The restriction applies to operators including Bet365, Stake, 1xBet and Mostbet, as the country maintains that online wagering remains lawful only under locally issued permits.
